How to win Snake Royale

By HyperHollowGames ยท Updated

Snake Royale is HyperSnake's battle royale: twenty snakes in one arena, a zone that keeps closing, and a storm outside it that eats your tail. Only the last snake left wins. A round takes about three minutes. This is how the round works and how to still be there at the end.

The last eight snakes to VICTORY, a real round played in the game.

How a round works

  • The start. Nothing can hurt anyone for the first three seconds, so find your thumb and steer. The hunters only graze for the first twelve seconds, which is your time to eat.
  • The zone. The first zone is a square in the middle of the field. It holds for 30 seconds, then closes over 8 seconds to a ring about three quarters its size, and again, and again.
  • The storm. Outside the zone every snake loses four segments a second. You get a second and a half of warning and an arrow back first. A snake shorter than eight segments that is still outside is finished.
  • The endgame. Once the zone is small, or only two rivals are left, the clock runs twice as fast. With one rival left it is a duel and faster still. No new food appears in a small zone, and in the end the zone closes completely: then the storm bites everyone, and the longer snake outlasts the shorter.

Who you are up against

Nineteen rivals share the arena with you. The AI snakes come in three kinds: hunters that aim ahead of your head to cut you off, grazers that just eat and grow, and skittish ones that run from anything bigger. Up to five of the nineteen are ghost runs, replays of other players' real rounds, shown with a gamer tag and a country flag. A ghost swims exactly where that player swam, so it will not dodge you: cut across its path and it crashes into you like any other snake.

Your first rounds are rookie rounds: no hunters, and the storm bites you half as often. Every round after that is the full lobby.

A plan for each stage

  1. The first half minute: grow. Eat everything near you while the hunters graze. Length is your health bar against the storm and your win in every head-on.
  2. Before every ring: move early. When the timer at the top runs down, head for the middle of the next zone before it starts closing. The snakes caught at the edge have to cross everyone else to get in.
  3. In the crowd: be the wall. Do not chase tails. Cross ahead of a rival's head with room to spare and let your body do the work; when its head hits your body, it crashes and drops its whole length as food.
  4. Head-on goes to the longer snake. Check the live board at the top left before you meet anyone face to face. Bigger than them: take it. Smaller: turn away.
  5. Boost in bursts. Boost opens at twelve segments and costs tail. Use a short burst to beat a closing edge or finish a cut-off, then let go.
  6. The last three: stay long, stay central. No food spawns in a small zone, so the length you bring is all you get. Circle in the middle, keep your tail inside, and let the others make the mistakes at the edge.

Common mistakes

  • Waiting at the edge. A snake that waits for the wall to arrive spends the closing in the storm, four segments a second.
  • Chasing a kill out of the zone. The food a crashed rival drops is no use if you lose it all getting back in.
  • Turning back into your own tail. In a small zone your own body is the biggest obstacle. Make wide circles, not tight ones.

Weekly events and unique skins

Every week Snake Royale runs an event with its own twist: double food, giant snakes, no boost or a fast zone. Finish in the top 3 three times that week and its skin is yours for good. Event skins are never sold. One round a day is free; Unlock everything makes Snake Royale unlimited.
